“We hold these truths…” may be the most memorable line of the Declaration. “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it…” may be the most revolutionary line. But the line above, the line that severed forever our colonies from the Crown is the most important line of the document.

When you’re not blowing shit up, drinking too much or any balance of these two time honored traditions, please take some time to read the Declaration of Independence. The whole thing.

In conclusion, fuck King George III, who on July 4th, 1776 wrote only this in his diary: “Nothing of importance happened today.”
